Internship Type The internship experience, whether a non-paid, 14-week student teacher (Clinical Experience) placement or a paid, 36-week teacher of record position, is the foundation of a teacher preparation program. The TEACH supervisor, assigned by Dr. Q, and the mentor (cooperating teacher), assigned by the campus principal, work through performance standards and developmental strategies with the TEACH Teacher during the internship.
Internship Experience Courses YTR 5000 courses are offered to guide the teacher through the rigors of the internship.
1) YTR 5001a & 5001bTexas Teacher Evaluation & Support System (T-TESS) teacher evaluation system which replaced the PDAS in 2014. Both courses guide teacher and field supervisors on what is expected of a teacher in the classroom. 2) YTR 5000b Induction Year Program eHandbook provides an overview of the support offered by all Support Team members. 3) YTR 5000a Support Team Training course assists the teacher to connect to his/her TEACH Support Team. 4) YTR 5000d Clinical Teaching Experience (student teacher) eHandbook guides all involved with the Clinical Teaching Experience (CTE). CTE eHandbook guides the teacher through the internship. 5) UGR 3005Teach Like a Champion mini-course provides specific strategies for meeting the academic and social needs of a highly diverse student population.
Intro MTG: At the Intro MTG, scheduled by the TEACH Supervisor for the teacher serving a 14-week internship with the cooperating teacher, TEACH Supervisors, TEACH Director, will guide the TEACH teacher and the cooperating teacher through the expectations for and logistics of the internship.
Observations Forms Six forms are submitted for a teacher of record serving on a Probationary Certificate. Four forms are submitted for a teacher serving a student teacher (clinical teaching experience) for 14-weeks.
Observation Forms: Six observation forms (cluster forms) will be submitted on behalf of the teacher throughout the teacher's internship. The T-TESS Performance Standards are grouped into the four observation forms: 1st Classroom Visit: Observation #3: Learning Environment Dimension 2nd Classroom Visit: Observation #2: Instruction Dimension 3rd ClassroomVisit: Observation #1: Planning Dimension 4th Classroom Form: (ongoing): #4: Professional Practices & Responsibilities Dimension
Completion MTG: At the conclusion of the 14-week internship, the TEACH supervisor will schedule a Completion MTG with the cooperating teacher and TEACH teacher to discuss the particulars of the internship.
Internship Required courses in tqportal.com: In addition to the six core courses, ACC 1101, 1152, 1153, 1204, 1155, and 2157 and their companion courses, the following courses are required for all serving an internship whether Teacher of Record or Student Teacher.
